TOURNAMENT FORMAT

4 Game Guarantee Tournaments - an online random number generator with be used to place teams into groups for pool play on Friday and Saturday. Single elimination play will begin on Sunday. A 4 Game Guarantee format is just that, a format -- not a guarantee of 4 games in the event of inclement weather.

SEEDING: Teams will be seeded for single elimination play based upon the following pool play results:

                        1. Best Record        2. Head to Head         3. Fewest Runs Allowed        4. Coin Flip

ALL TEAMS MUST HAVE THEIR ROSTER ENTERED ONLINE PRIOR TO PLAY IN ANY NSA TOURNAMENT. All teams must turn in a copy of their signed roster and a copy of their proof of team insurance before their first game at each tournament. The tournament director will purchase a tournament an NSA weekend policy for any team that does not carry NSA Westpoint insurance. Teams must have a copy of their properly filled out roster (entered online, printed out, and signed by parents), birth certificates, and proof of insurance available for review by the tournament director at all times during the tournament. PLAYERS CANNOT BE ADDED TO THE ROSTER DURING THE TOURNAMENT ONCE PLAY HAS BEGUN IN A WORLD SERIES QUALIFIER.

IN THE EVENT THERE ARE AN ODD NUMBER OF TEAMS IN AN AGE DIVISION, a team will be selected randomly to play the extra game. Regardless of who plays the game, in a Pay As You Play Tournament the tournament host will pay the umpire fee for the team playing their 4th game (their opponent pays their own umpire fee). At the conclusion of all pool games, including the extra game, one game will be selected randomly from all of the games played by the team playing the extra game and that game will not count toward the team playing the extra game seeding. For example, in a 4 game guarantee tournament with an odd number of teams, one team will play 4 pool games, and after all 4 pool games are played one will be picked randomly and will not count toward that team's seeding. Although the game chosen will not count for seeding for the team playing the extra game it will count for their opponent's seeding.

ALL TEAMS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPORTING ALL GAME SCORES TO THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR.

GAME TIME IS FORFEIT TIME (15 min. grace 1st time slot of day only). IF A TEAM FORFEITS TWO OR MORE POOL PLAY GAMES, THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY IN THE ELIMINATION PORTION OF THE TOURNAMENT. THE FORFEITING TEAM STILL PAYS THE UMPIRE FOR THE GAME.

HOME TEAM DETERMINED BY COIN FLIP DURING POOL PLAY--WINNER OF COIN FLIP HAS CHOICE.

NO TIEBREAKER IN POOL PLAY AFTER TIME LIMIT--GAMES END IN TIE IF TIME HAS EXPIRED. TIME LIMIT IS 1 HOUR, 30 MINUTES - FINISH THE BATTER IN POOL PLAY/NO NEW INNING WILL START AFTER TIME IN ELIMINATION PLAY. THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME HAS NO TIME LIMIT.

NOTE: When FINISH THE BATTER TIME LIMIT is used, if the home team is not up at bat and ahead the drop dead time, the score will revert back to the last completed inning. If the home team is up at bat and ahead then the score at the drop dead time is the final score. Stalling by either team will not be tolerated.
